Staying Carnivore While Traveling (Without Going Nuts or Starving)
The struggle is real. Here’s how I fight back.
Let’s be honest: staying on the Carnivore Diet while traveling feels like trying to win a boxing match with one hand tied behind your back.
You’re in a hotel room with no fridge.
You’re flying for hours with nothing but pretzels and ginger ale in sight.
And then the conference buffet hits you with the ol’ “carbs and cream cheese” special.
I’ve been there. More than once. And I’ll admit it — I’ve caved a few times. The bagel at 7 a.m. looks innocent enough… until the bloat and brain fog roll in and you remember why you stopped eating this way in the first place.
So how do you actually stay Carnivore when you’re traveling?
Here’s what’s worked for me — and what might help you stay on track without losing your mind (or your gains).
✈️ 1. Air Travel: Bring a Protein Arsenal
TSA is not your friend, but they can’t stop you from being prepared. Here's my airport survival kit:
Beef sticks or jerky (watch for sugar and soy in the ingredients)
Hard-boiled eggs (yes, you’ll be that guy — it’s worth it)
Freeze-dried liver snacks (if you're hardcore and don’t mind some weird looks)
Pre-cooked burgers in a Ziploc (chilled beforehand, eat within a few hours)
Pro Tip: Some airport restaurants will let you order just eggs or just meat. Don't be shy. Ask for “four scrambled eggs and two burger patties, no bun.”
🏨 2. Hotel Hacks: Make It Work
Call ahead and ask if there’s a fridge in the room. If not, request one for “medical reasons” (aka your iron-clad meat addiction).
Uber Eats or DoorDash your carnivore staples — I’ve ordered five bunless burgers more times than I can count.
Breakfast buffets? Avoid the pastry section like it’s radioactive. Grab eggs, bacon, sausage — even if they’re not perfect, they’re better than bagels.
And if it’s all carbs? You’ve got two options:
Fast and wait it out (you won’t die — you’re a machine).
Ask the staff if they can prep just eggs or meat — many hotels are more accommodating than you’d expect.
🍝 3. The All-Carb Buffet: Choose the Lesser Evil
Sometimes, all that’s offered is pasta, pastries, and “mystery vegetarian quiche.”
Here’s how to survive:
Look for hidden protein — sometimes the salads have chopped eggs, bacon bits, or deli meat.
Scrape the toppings — take the cheese and meat off the casseroles, ditch the rest.
Don’t be afraid to fast — missing one meal is better than throwing off your entire rhythm.
When in doubt, treat it like a fasting window ⏳. You’ll eat like a king later 👑.
Traveling while Carnivore is a test. Not just of discipline, but of creativity 🎯.
You will be tempted. You will feel alone sometimes. But you’re also building a mindset that doesn’t fold the minute it’s inconvenient — and that pays off big when you’re back home, stronger and sharper than before 💪🧠.
This isn’t just about meat 🥩. It’s about standards.
Keep going 🔥.
